NOTE ** The shape of the drawer affects its ability to handle a specific load. Consider the drawer width, depth and height in specifying the right slides. A formula used by BIFMA uses these dimensions to calculate expected load:
NOTE ** Expected Load (loaded with paper) = Drawer Depth (into cabinet) x Drawer Height x Drawer Width x 0.017 pounds per cubic inch (0.152 g/cu m)+ Empty Drawer Weight (approximately 30 pounds (13 kg)).

A. Drawer Slides: Light-to-medium capacity, for drawers which extend deeper into cabinet than drawer width:
1. Acceptable product: Accuride 3832.
2. Type: Full extension slide, side-mounted, with lever drawer disconnect; silenced slide movement supported by steel ball bearings.
3. Capacity: 100 pounds (45 kg) per pair for 18-inch (457 mm) slide length.
NOTE ** Retain one of the following three sub-paragraphs to specify slide finish; clear zinc is standard, black zinc and white epoxy are optional.

NOTE ** Door must fit inside cabinet opening; it cannot overlay cabinet frame on top and bottom edges. However, a 3/4 inch (19 mm) thick door can overlay cabinet frame 11/16 inch (17 mm), maximum, on hinge edge; a detail drawing is included in the Accuride data sheet.

NOTE ** A "pocket" can be used to provide a place to mount internal shelves or provide further screening of the slide; allow the thickness of the door plus 1-1/4 inches (31 mm) inside the pocket to allow for free movement of the hardware and the door. When specifying a partition make sure access is provided to make hinge adjustments.
F. Retracting Door Slides:
1. Acceptable product: Accuride Flipper Door(R) Model 1432.
2. Type: Retracting hinge assembly for vertical cabinet doors, with provision to prevent racking of door.
3. Capacity: 75 pounds (34 kg).
4. Slide extension: For door widths indicated on drawings.
NOTE ** The following sub-paragraph specifies minimum hinge requirements; for special project conditions, consult manufacturer for recommendations for compatible hinge model numbers and modify sub-paragraph.
5. Hinges: Types recommended by manufacturer for indicated door thicknesses, and as follows:
a. For door height 36 inches (914 mm) and below, supply 2 hinges per door.
b. For door height above 36 inches (914 mm), supply 3 hinges per door, plus one additional hinge for each 12 inches (304 mm) of door height above 36 inches (914 mm).
NOTE ** Optional hinge carrier strip is always recommended; it assists door stability in closed position, and also allows for additional hinge mounting, as required on tall doors.
6. Hinge carrier strip: Type recommended by manufacturer for specified hinges.
7. Finish: Clear zinc.
G. Supply mounting hardware specified in manufacturer's instructions for cabinet hardware.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. Install products specified in this section in accordance with requirements of affected sections and manufacturer's instructions.

NOTE ** Accuride strongly recommends that cabinets be finished prior to installation of cabinet hardware. This prevents slide lubrication from getting on unfinished wood and from finishing debris from getting into operating components. If job site finishing is a must, require masking of all sliding hardware to prevent sawdust, sealer, finish or other debris from fouling operating components. Finish or sealer should not be applied directly onto drawer slides.
B. Do not install products specified in this section before applied finishes on cabinets have dried; allowing foreign substances to foul operating components is prohibited.
C. Mask or cover products specified in this section before applying finishes on cabinets, removing coverings only after finishes have dried; allowing foreign substances to foul operating components is prohibited.
3.2 ADJUSTING
A. Adjust operating components of products of this section in accordance with manufacturer's instructions; ensure that products operate correctly.
